About Our Farm

The Mission of the Farm

We spread beauty and teach others how to grow it. Our goal is to help equip others to grow their own gardens; to spread kindness and love through flowers; to cultivate the desire to slow down and enjoy the complex simplicity of growing; and above all, to show that you can grow incredibly beautiful spaces with only a small amount of land.

Micro Flower Farm was born out of the desire to fill spaces to their max and the belief that you can grow loads of flowers even in small spaces. Dozens or hundreds of acres are unnecessary, and flower-filled dreams can flourish even in a little plot of land. On the farm, we grow on just under an acre of land and fill that with dahlias and other cut flowers for the local market. Our goal is to provide high quality, healthy tubers for your own gardens and fields. We take immense pride in the fact that every dahlia is hand dug and hand divided, and that we sanitize between every plant in the field. We grow organically, and prioritize the health of our soil for the healthiest, happiest plants.

Meet the Team!

Daniel and Galena

Daniel and Galena

We run the farm as a team. Daniel manages the building operations, systems, and irrigation. He ensures that the backbone of the farm run smoothly at all times, which allows Galena to manage the heart of the farm: field plans, hybridizing, seedlings, cut flowers, dahlias, and flower education.

Together we make sure we have a high level of soil and plant health so that we can send out high quality, premium tubers that have been hand cared for, every step of the way.

Although this farm started as a one-woman venture, it morphed in 2025 into a full family farm, and we all work together to ensure life and work run smoothly here!

The Kids

Our four kids are the support team. They currently help out with planting, building projects, shipping boxes, bloom inspectors, analyzing seedlings (although their picks don't always meet the farm standards), cat wranglers and the biggest job of all: just being kids.

What We Grow

A big focus of our farm is dahlias, and every year send out thousands of tubers to grow in other gardens and farms. We currently grow over 500 curated varieties, which are carefully tended throughout the year, hand-dug, sanitized between every plant, and hand-divided to maximize the quality we can send out to each of you. Our online sale is typically once a year in February, and tubers are shipped out in April.

Our growing practices focus on organic, regenerative methods—utilizing beneficial insects over pesticides, and prioritizing soil health and mulching instead of chemicals. We also sanitize between every plant and clump and cull at any sign of virus, to maximize the health of our plants.

Locally, we sell a multitude of cut flowers, with a big focus on DIY buckets. If you are located in SW Washington and are interested in this, please send an email to microflowerfarm@gmail.com.

Coming Up!

Looking forward into 2027, we will begin offering dahlia varieties hybridized by Galena. These are evaluated for several years for bloom quality, stem strength, tubers, and overall health. The first releases are scheduled to begin appearing in 2027. You can see some of what she is working on by heading to our seedling page here.
